Weekend with Jake

So... meet Jake (scroll down,  I know... I should have started with a picture of him but I thought I looked cute... so I shared me first 😆)! In just a few short days Jake and I will celebrate a year of knowing each other followed by next month being ONE YEAR of us being "officially" together 💗  which is WILD!!! I have to pinch myself sometimes because I am one lucky girl! Jake is the one of the sweetest, most kind, GOD fearing, confident men I have ever met AND he's mine lol. But for real, GOD has outdone himself with this gift. This last year has been one of the hardest years of my life and Jake has walked it out with me every step of the way with so many unknowns from the very beginning to now. He has prayed for me when I didn't have the words, been patient with me when I've felt like my entire world was coming undone. He goes above and beyond to take care of me. His family has welcomed me with open arms and GOD is showing me what could be and reveal to me the deepest desires of my heart. It is  the most beautiful yet challenging thing I get to experience and I am forever grateful.

So I just turned 24 and I'd be lying if I told you I didn't freak out a little bit. The days leading up to my birthday anxiety crept in and I started to question my whole life. I asked myself, what am I doing with my life? Why am I at my current job? Why am I not married? Why? Why, why why? With each question I started to doubt myself, but most importantly I started to doubt God and his intentions toward me. I felt like he was holding out on me. My God...

Today I woke up and took myself on a date. I put on a pretty sundress and did my makeup, then headed out to the movies. After my movie, I treated myself to dinner at Jason's Deli. There I sat in a corner booth and watched the sunset. Watching it, my heart overflowed and my eyes welled up with tears. My God is so beautiful and he takes my breath away. He reminds me through sunrises and sunsets of who I am. I am the daughter of The God who sets the sun and moon in the sky and hang the stars. I am the daughter of the Creator of The Universe and there is none like him. It is an honor to serve him with my life.
