Shifting My Gaze

As I self quarantine over the next few weeks I will be taking to my blog to share some of my thoughts and feelings on what's going on in my world. It will be very informal. However, it's crucial that we all stay connected and open to our hearts during this weird season. With that being said, here's an excerpt from my journal this morning:

As I'm sitting here praying about my needs being met (specifically resources for my job as a nurse) and reminding my soul I live from a place of abundance; I look up and there's a squirrel outside of my window scurrying along a branch. He suddenly stops and starts eating away at some large glob of something in his hands. In that moment, I felt Holy Spirit say, "He's not worried". I'm then reminded of Matthew 6:25-34.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
The Lord is faithful and will provide for my needs. I am taken care of. I have a choice to make in this season. What will I set my gaze upon? I have the opportunity in this hour to bring heaven to earth and respond like a daughter who has a Father. Or I can have a wavering gaze that looks at how the world is responding. Will I show up in the unpopular way? With hope and calling forth the unseen. Will I respond the way heaven is responding? I believe all of heaven is on the edge of their seat waiting eagerly for the sons and daughters to awaken and take their place! I was made for such a time as this! What an amazing time to be alive. I WILL see your glory GOD in the land of the living!

Friends, you have the same choice to make. How will you respond?
